Forza Motorsport 5 reviews

One thing that pisses me off is the paying to unlock cars. I understand that GT will be that way too so I'm not just picking on Forza. 60 bucks is enough for the game, don't need to pay more for unlockable content that should be available anyways.

This is my main gripe about the future of gaming. It's been happening for a while now and more game manufactures are going that way of making everything "extra" to pay for. I don't like it that much because it takes away that element of everyone on the same level. It gives manufactures a way of luring gamers in, and then slowly giving out content that could have been released normally. However, this also allows for content that takes a while to make for future download content that can make a game more enjoyable and last longer.

I am all for DLC that is truly extra and worth the price. What I hate is when they make a short or "unfinished" game and make you pay for the added content to actually make the game complete. It seems to lead to lazy game developers and is becoming too much the normal business practice. Why create a complete work of art game when we can make a game quickly and have the user buy DLC? Another thing I dislike is when they release DLC like maps or weapon add-ons for multiplayer or co-op and if you want to play with others you can't because you don't have the DLC or someone else doesn't.

I'm not exactly defending this, but.. Does anyone here know what it takes to develop a game? How many man hours does it take to model one car to the level of graphics and such for consoles (Forza or GT)? Or create and render all the shit for a single map in other games?

Should the games be entirely finished and cost only $60, maybe, but guess what, if they were you'd get what you get when you buy the game in the store. All the add-on DLC wouldn't be in that $60 finished game, its just stuff you would've never had or known about.

At the end of the day DLC is exactly what it sounds like. It's extra add-on content that you can have for a price, because they took time and money to develop an add-on of some form for the game you want to play.

Reminds me of how HBO and other channels increase rates, and the local cable company turns around and tells subscribers they need to pay more the cable to pay for the increase for that channel.

It would be nice if we could get a discount for not playing the shitting part of the game or racing for 5 hours in a Ford Pinto. That is just mean.

Here we go.....

I didn't say I was against it in all cases. I am all for extra add-ons like Borderlands or other games where it's extra after a great game. I don't like it when the game wasn't very good or was short and they releases DLC to make it seem better or a longer game. Add to this the prices are just too high in so many cases.

DLC done right isn't a bad thing. If you like a game and they release another story line etc. That is fine. Some games have done it right like Red Dead Redemption etc. But it should never affect the original game.

On one of the podcasts I enjoy they compared the going rate of an hours worth of entertainment. For example, if you pay $8 for a 9o minute movie as long as that $64 game gives you 12 hours of entertainment you should be as satisfied as you are paying $8 to watch a movie.

I often use this logic with games. I think I've posted about it before, but for example, I could include the cost of a 360 and call of duty game, and over a year I'd be at well under $0.50 per hour to have played
