Is the Halloween tradition starting to die?

I noticed last night going out that it might had been the least amount of kids I have ever seen going out. Now we had rainy weather here so that might account for some of it, but it just didn't seem like many kids out there. Have kids changed and no longer feel like going out due to screen time and social anxiety? Here are some other things that I noticed as well. Less and less people giving out candy. Is this due to the current economical situation right now? We also ran into people and signs saying 'out of candy', which in all my years of trick or treating was new. Also there were tons of just table setup and buckets that said 'help yourself'. There are to many 'trunk or treats' now carried over from covid as well. Something else I noticed is kids going out earlier and earlier than normal. Back in my day you didn't even start until it got dark out and it was tough having to wait all day for it to get dark just to go out. Reading online this morning, it sounds like I am not the only one with these experiences. Anyone else notice these changes as well?
