Thoughts on homeless people

So i was thinking about all the homeless people out there. There are alot, some are legit some are not. We waste alot of money here in America. I was thinking about how we spent $60 million dollars on a missile to shot down that spy satellite from space a few weeks ago. (see tinfoil forum for more). But man just think of 60million dollars and how much food/clothes/homes that could have bought. Our priorities here in America are messed up. I understand not wanting the satellite to fall into enemy hands. But when was the last time someone from the government got on the news and said "today we are donating $60 million dollars to help with the homeless here in America"? I think American's spirits need to be lifted and people reminded why this country is the great and show it by our actions of taking care of it's own people.

I donated 30 bucks to the United Way a couple of months ago.  Somebody should have been able to get a bottle of Crown with that.

For the few that choose that life style, or are just too big of a bum to get a damn job, I certainly don't give a dam.  Ship them to Mexico.  I guess I have a hard time feeling too sorry for them, though I suppose finding a job when you don't shower is difficult.  The truly homeless, down-and-out people that are out should get some help.  I think our government already spends too damn much money on helping people out however.  I hate thinking of people getting my tax money through some of the programs that are out there, mostly just a bunch of ways for the extremely lazy people to get income without having to do a thing.

I agree With NDBOARDER - Alos before any of these people get any handouts from the Government they should have to pass a piss test. It is hard to feel sorry for someone who is not working when there are quite a few jobs out there. They may not be the best jobs but they pay the rent.

I don't work at Pamida anymore; get off me lies!

Ludacris - I have no problem with Pamida - Thinking of quitting this shit and looking for something like Pamida shelf stocker.

What does Pamida do?
Provides jobs that some may not think are so great, but it's a pay check at least.  I actually saw a show last night somewhat related to this.  A guy's wife was on his case because he wasn't working.  He claims to be writing a book, about zombies, but basically there is no chance it would ever get published.  He stated himself that he had no education, so I am guessing the book wouldn't be written very well either, on top of the huge obstacle of finding a publisher.  He also said something along the lines of "I did the math and if I were working 40 hours a week at $8 / hour, I wouldn't be making much."While I agree that he wouldn't be making much, people that say such things make me want to knock some sense into them.  SOMETHING > NOTHING.  Get a job you $#&*$(*#&%(*$ loser.

So many people can make more living off food stamps and other government handouts that they do not work. If we quit handing them everything maybe 8/hour will not look so bad.

Don't believe him Lies, he still works there.

Look at the bible for the answer. Jesus himself even said, "The poor will always be with us."

He also said somewhere in there something about it being better to teach a man how to fish rather than giving him a fish. There is also a chinese proverb about that one.

Basically my thoughts on homelessness is that most of those people are on the streets because of poor decisions they made in life. Granted there are those out there who came upon a streak of bad luck, but I believe most of them are out there because of decisions they themselves made.

That all being said, the government does have a responsibility for these people. We need to treat them with respect and dignity, but we shouldn't artificially prop them up. They need to take some responsibility for their own lives.

They need to learn a trade and make a living.

I think if they would give them jobs (instead of outsourcing) and maybe helped them get on their feet (i'm not talking food stamps or welfare since that is overly abused) maybe more would get off the streets. The legit ones are the ones holding the signs "will work for food". They are not asking for money, but a fair days labor for a meal. Alot of people are lazy, but there are alot of men that like to work. Man always seems to have the need to work with his hands, anyways i am just saying help some people out.
