    Jitter computer

So we all remember the Jitter Phone right? Basically big numbers for cell phones for your parents or grandparents. So why not the same with a computer? Basically with the low cost and size of these new small computers why not load a linux kernal (for stability and virus and spyware free) along...

    Ufo detector software

Ran across this software tonight. It is being developed to detect Ufos using software that works with different cameras. It can detect false positive such as birds and planes. Looks fairly straight forward and can even use your webcam. I think it's fairly new software but the developer seems to...

*NOTE, I no longer will be maintaining these links. Neither will I keep adding new tools or keep up on the latest tools since I am no longer in this line of work. I thought I would keep a list of tools for data recovery. These ones I have personally used. Active@ Undelete - Does a fairly good...

    Long forgotten computer hardware

Does anyone else remember old computer trends? It's strange to think that some people will never use these devices every in their lifetime. I'll start us off. Oh how I loved you my precious 100mb external zip drive. It was so much storage. Equivalent to a 4 terabyte drive this day it felt like...

    Retractable computer cables

I would like to see a retractable device created that would house an AC, a HDMI, a Vga, a DVI, in something that you can mount on the wall. The other ends would plus in to the monitor and power. One tug and they would retract. I know computer techs and places like a Geek Squad would love them...

    VisionTek 26 Piece Computer Toolkit

Saw they had this on sale. It seems like a nice quality one. I have a small one that I have in my bag, but I'm thinking about picking this one up. Not to bad for $19.99. Link

*NOTE, I no longer will be maintaining these links. Neither will I keep adding new tools or keep up on the latest tools since I am no longer in this line of work. So I thought I would list some of the tools that I use to "clean up" machines. Yes you could manually do these things but using...

    New computer build time

Well my birthday is coming up soon and always around this time I think about building a new machine. Do I need it? No, but do I want? Yes. I'm thinking of going Intel this time. I have the case that I want picked out which is a micro atx case. I just love the look of it and have plans for it...

How to rip a dvd to your computer

This is a real nice article done by Lifehacker. Head to Handbrake's homepage and download the program. Install it to your computer as directed.     By default, Handbrake can rip unprotected DVDs, but most DVDs you buy from the store have copy protection. To get around this, you'll need to...

People remembering they have a computer problem

Computer issue - Laptop won't boot into anything, powers off.

So I am working on someone's laptop that's about 5-6 years old, a Compaq business line laptop. The issue is that it won't fully boot into anything nor any mode before it totally shuts off. It only gets so far. I let it sit at the "Windows Advanced Menu screen" and it just shut down after a...

For those of you that haven't jumped on the SSD bandwagon...

What are your waiting for? It's probably one of the best upgrades you can do to any system. The cost are insanely cheap for a smaller version. As long as your not storing tons of data on them the are great. I would recommend them over buying more memory for your system. I installed a new one in...

    Next computer build

I think the next machine that I will do will be a mini-itx board. You still get your PCI xpress 3.0 x16 for your modern video card, built in wireless etc. Really the only downside would be only 2x memory slots. But smaller form factor is nice with the cases that they offer.

    DropBox cloud software

Anyone here still using dropbox? If you aren't it's a pretty slick backup and I suggest you sign up (2GB of free storage). Currently if you are using this you can boost your storage by testing their beta and auto importing photos/videos, up to 5GB more free!! I did this myself yesterday. I...

    Cell phones overtaking computers?

I know a few people that have given up computers all together and are using their phone as their primary computing device. With all the apps these days how far do you think this trend will go?
