Changing your power steering fluid

I sure miss having my Dad around for this stuff, but I think I am going to take on the task of changing my power steering fluid in both Hondas. I have been watching YouTube videos the last couple of days, and it doesn't seem to be too hard. I think I will use video #3 to make it a little bit easier and will use my oil extractor to evacuate the liquid. I also think after changing it, I am going to drive it for a week, then extract it one more time.

I replaced the power steering fluid in two of my vehicles this weekend. Using the dilution method, it wasn't that hard at all. Make sure you are using the correct fluid. Honda and Acura use their own proprietary fluid. Others, like Ford, actually use transmission fluid. Each vehicle probably took about a half hour. The old stuff was nasty and black/grey when I pulled it out. The more you get out, the clearer it becomes. Look into it; an average Joe can do it. It probably needs to be done about every 50k miles. It costs me about $40 per vehicle.
