What's new

Cheesemakers union

I wish you the best Sir. You will be fine no matter what. Plus you always have an out only a state over. ;)
Management likes me, so I should have the good word, it's just in the hands of what the Bobs think. There will be peace in the Valley (valley in the NW) :)

My special cheese will only be available 3 out of 5 days starting Jan 2. Hopefully, the artificial scarcity imposed by the accounting division will increase desire and popularity, at which point, I'm hoping to either have the price of the cheese increased, or made available again full time.

However, I don't know if I can wait that long. It is hard selling cheese only 3 out of 5 days in the winter.

Gentlemen, I have waited along time to make this post. What I have gone though the last few months have been horrid. It has been one of the toughest things that I have gone though in my life. What a blessing this has been to me. We have sold our cheese factory. We will be relocating to a new area to start production up again. Today is the day that I get to turn my two weeks in to my current company. None of you will know my excitement right now. I feel like I am being pulled out of Hell and into Heaven. What a weight off my shoulders this is going to be. I'll be going in there soon. Wish me luck! :)

Good luck to you man! I remember the feeling after putting my two weeks in before my previous job before going on that break.

Well I did it. I tell you I feel like a new man. I have direction in my life once again. He was nice about it and offered to write me a letter of recommendation. I feel like I have a whole new attitude towards life now!

Well, looks like my cushy job will be over the end of November. One thing I don't miss is the stress of a high available, low support person environment. That's all going to change with the new owners. There will be greater demand and they talked about being remotely available for other sites in other states. There are only 6 people in their IT department. Also, many things that another group specialized in support will eventually fall onto "our" group being me. I am definitely open to a more advanced opportunity and have managed servers and such, but our current company had a very large structure in place locally with a thousand IT people. All of what we have will transition over to the new company with 6 people. I see being on call and rushing in more frequently and dealing with a lot more stress. Maybe this was my calling for going West?

Sorry to hear @ryanator . It's a good time to bail out of here as any. In your position I would just stick it out at least to spring then head west. So many new tech companies starting up over there. Plus give yourself a new start and get out the the funk around here. It could change your entire life completely.

Sorry to hear. I know some people love such changes. I for one wouldn't. I hate more stress added onto my already stressful at times life.

Oh and let me guess, they want to pay you less? I would say more pay, more work from home while I play video games, more everything or no deal.

The pay might increase actually, it would have to, there's going to be a lot more responsibilities. I'm not selling my self short for extra stress.

The stress is never worth it.

Kind of sad but also happy. Also a little jealous in a way seeing that you may get out of IT and love it.

Today has been crappy so far. Makes me so glad to be getting out of this mess. You have no idea how thankful that I am. There are a couple of people that haven't even acknowledged that I am leaving yet, but whatever. I am very VERY proud to say that after 13 years of being here I personally never ripped anyone off. I am very proud of that.

Co-worker should me email of another guy complaining that I left at 4 yesterday. First off I skipped my lunch, second my cat was having surgery. She goes who cares he's got only two days left, what does it matter. Oh I can't tell you how much of a blessing this is for me!

That's why I never want to work in that kind of environment, people suck sometimes. I'm a little nervous at the changes in expectations in my new role. In my current job, we had a large specialized support group and I was alone here with my boss in another state. The only difference now is there is not large support group, so I can't get "lost" in the mix as much, which I liked.
