Sorry man, that industry isn't looking up in the future anytime soon. I would soak up as much bread as possible and always think of the future. At least your life is probably more stable than mine at the moment.I'm starting to get a bad vibe from where I work. The moral is bad here already in some areas, and I get undermined from my colleagues in the corporate office.
How did this turn out @ryanator? Or did you not talk to them. It got me thinking of someone else I knew in kinda the same job type as you. When things started to slow down over there they started to have her do other things to fill her time. As they started to let others go they started pilling on their job responsibilities to Her until eventually she left. Worked out good in the long run for her though since the company pulled out of there and went back to their home area. She would had been laid off in the long run.
I'm getting conflicting info. I talked to our local area manager (number 1 guy here) and he's on my side of I don't need to mess with anything in the field. That's what they pay a third party contractor a lot of money to fix and test every piece of equipment out there. We used to have a full automation team for that, but they are all gone except two full time alternating shift electricians, but they work primarily on the electric side of things. The area manager told me not to worry and that I'm doing everything that they've needed. He's also not happy on how some things are ran from corporate in some departments.
Wishing you the best man. I always thought that the boss, MM, would be the hard one to work for and with. I never hated him just at the time working for him instead of with him was something I could not do at the time. I think his thoughts were the same. We were both interviewed for the lead tech coordinator and he was selected. I heard that if I was hired he would leave and well I left since he got it. Not sure why we both felt that way about each other and wish feelings were not like that but whatever. I should have gotten the job though but past is past.
