Coffee Lovers: Brewing Methods, Beans and Coffee Gear

Does anyone think drinking coffee from a metal container taste different than say a clay cup? I have noticed when I take my Yeti cup full of coffee it doesn't taste as good as coffee on the weekend from a clay cup. The metal I think ads bitterness or something.

Today is my first cup of coffee in over a week. That lost cold I got messed me up and I couldn't drink coffee. It was probably good to ween my body off caffeine for a bit.

I picked up some of this to try from the same company as before. I really enjoy their coffee, it has a smoothness to it, or almost a silk taste to it.

Well, I went and purchased a new coffee maker today. Mine has been on the fritz lately. Yes, I have cleaned it with white vinegar as well. I was looking online for a new one on Amazon but ended up picking up a cheap Black and Decker 12cup locally. Price was even cheaper than Amazon. I purposely wanted a cheap coffee maker. for the price you might as well buy a cheap one, and when the glass pot and coffee maker start to get nasty, toss the whole thing away and purchase a brand new one. A brand new one cost the same as a replacement glass pot. That is what my dad does, uses it for about 1-2 years and tosses it and buys new. It is programable which I did not want but it's all they had. I never used that feature on my other model.

Got to break in the new coffee maker this morning. It's so fast compared to my old coffee maker. My old one would take about 20 minutes to make a 6 cup, this is done in like 5 minutes.

I just picked up one of the stainless-steel canisters to hold coffee. It has a special CO2 seal that purges out all the air and keeps your ground coffee fresh. It's so much easier than digging through the bag the coffee comes in and having to roll it back up and try to get all the air out.

All these fancy devices....just for you to add cream, sugar, and whip cream to it.

Man, I am feeling it today. The coffee maker messed up this morning and I didn't have time to make another batch. Plus, I have major work ahead of me today and I am dragging at a snail's pace.

Zip over to McDonalds for a pick me up.

I finally ran out of my Costco stuff, so picked up another bag of Ravens Brew brand coffee. This stuff is as smooth as silk.

Well, no coffee for me this morning. The coffee pot broke yesterday, and a new pot is as much as a whole new coffee maker with a pot. I have been trying to make a decision. I have considered using this time to switch back to a Keurig machine for ease of cleanup. I don't know, I plan on doing some research this morning when I get a breather from work.

I did some research and ended up going with Amazon's own Basics dual system. This way I can use kcups or regular coffee. Plus, it has a removable water reservoir which I wanted so I could clean it good as well.

I always think of Breaking Bad when the guy would get his water to an exact certain temp for making the perfect coffee.

The new coffee maker is perfect. My wife was against it at first, but after her first cup of coffee yesterday she changed her mind. The cleanliness is so much better.
