Well it's that time of year again. The time when all the big name titles start to lauch week after week and the wallet gets thinned out. I think most usually consider this season to start end of August, usually aroudn the time Madden XX (whatever year it may be) launches. Well next week is Madden launch (I think), but I'm telling you the season started yesterday with the launch of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
I'd heard good things in any pre-release review, so to the store I went. Played it for about 5 hours last night and so far it's great. I needed this game as it has got me back in a gaming mood. Lately nothing I've put into a console has held my attention and it was a struggle to play for more than an hour or so.
The story seems intriguing, the cut scenes are very well done, excellent graphics and smooth game play. I don't really know how to describe the gameplay. Pieces of it remind me of an older Metal Gear game (I don't recall which) that I played on either the PS1 or PS2, basically if I choose to sneak/non-lethal take out guards. That's about all I recall of the MG game, it was more about sneaking and tactics than it was just taking out anyting that moved. In this you can choose which approach to take, and based on some achievements I gather there are multiple possible endings to the game.
You have main objectives and get secondary objectives from others in the game. The first couple objectives are forced on you and have to be played through, but after that I found I then had two primary objectives and found a couple secondary as well and you can then pick and choose where you go and in which order they are completed.
For now I'll highly recommend checking out some reviews and gameplay footage. If it looks good to you, definitely go pick it up, I doubt you'll regret it. I'll post a more in depth review after I get into the game further.
