Let's talk Legos

Saw the local Target had a couple of the latest Ecto-1 Lego sets in stock last night.  Neat, but I'm not a big enough fan of the movie series to warrant a large $200 Ecto sitting around.

I haven't seen that set specifically.  I've seen some 3rd parties sell lights/sound stuff to upgrade a few sets though.  Still for around that price I'd rather grab the NES/TV, R2-D2 or a few others I think

Just looking at some of the sets is expensive...  The Ultimate Collector Sets they have out are cool display pieces and if I saw one in a store locally I know I'd think about it, and think about it and think about it.  I've looked into them more than I should have because of this thread. 

The AT-AT is the most recent large set, from 2021, so it will be around a while.  The Millenium Falcon is the largest Star wars set and has been our 5 years, which is apparently a long time for a Lego set.  Not rumored to be retiring so available for likely at least another year.  The Star Destroyer is about 3 years old and rumored to retire this year (Either 7/31 or 12/31).

The Falcon is still the coolest one to me.  If you were going to get the AT-AT, it has a spot in the back that houses 2 snow speeders.  It has room for 4 and also way more seats in it than you would have snow trooper figurines to fill (I think it comes with 4 or 5).  The collectors I saw that have it suggested getting additional Snow Trooper battle packs to get additional snow speeders and snow trooper figurines to better fill the AT-AT

 
Amazon had these on sale and were too good to pass up. I have always loved the Probe Droid design. There is something about all the cameras and sensors on it. I have loved it ever since I saw the Empire Strikes Back in theaters.

I have a few more in my cart to watch, the one that I am worried about retiring is the Millenium Falcon. The $150 version. People seem to like it for the money.

 
I didn't see the $150 falcon as a soon to retire rumor either, but who knows.  What I've seen is that usually Lego retires sets in two waves each year on either 7/31 or 12/31, so you'd have at least a few months, but more likely until mid 2023 at least if it isn't a rumored one to disappear in 2022.   Folks really seem to like the $150ish (play scale) AT-AT set as well.  Not the detail or scale of the UCS version at $800.

[/QUOTE]Ya most of the reviews are pleasant on it. One wonderful thing is you can bend the legs, with the big one you must use a screwdriver each time you want to position the legs. Besides, I could buy 5 of the smaller AT AT for the price of the big boy lol.

On the other hand, this is on my wish list as well.

I put together a kit with the kids last night (until they lost interest and I had to finish it all by myself). But it was still fun. Legos don't really matter about any age. Looking forward to doing more.

 
Took a short trip and visited a location with a Lego store.  They had the UCS Star Destroyer, AT-AT and Falcon all in stock (no I didn't buy any).  They also had the AT-AT and Falcon assembled and on display.  I knew they were big and all, but in person the scale of them was still nuts.

 
I am thinking about ordering the Millenium Falcon model. I am worried that it will be discontinued since it has been out for so long now.
