They start doing this, no one will buy them anymore.

Rumour has it that Sony is looking to the PC games market to help solve its growing piracy problem on the PlayStation 3 - with the introduction of serial keys to its games.According to 'a very reliable source' quoted by PS3-Sense, Sony is attempting to address the recent revelation that it failed to properly secure the private signing key for its flagship console - leading to clever tinkerers producing third-party firmware that allows unofficial software and illegitimately downloaded games to run on unmodified hardware - by looking to the PC retail market for solutions.

I agree, kinda defeats the purpose. I imagine they'd lose some gamers at least to PC, the rest would go to whatever console wasn't requiring entering keys.

I read a few articles suggesting that Sony's current situation will drive the PS4 to an earlier launch. Also I wonder if this PSP2 is based on similar engineering as the PS3; I read an article that says the found more exploits for the PSP based on the latest hacks of the PS3.

Either way, they are quite eph'd either way right now. Any chances this will effect exclusive titles?

I doubt it would. Most of the exclusive PS3 titles are by studios owned or very entrenched with Sony. Aside from that I doubt any developer is against something that will make it harder for people to pirate the games they work to make.
