Put in a fairly small limit order on BABA. May not even get filled depending how quick and how high this stuff goes

I don't understand is it just built off of hype? Why would you wanna invest in something someone doesn't even know if it exists? Is everyone just getting into it because of the hype?

So why are Americans interested in it if it's a Chinese company? Besides the money?

It isn't too often I sit and watch a stock, but watching this thing go up and down between the low 91.xx and up to 92.xx, got me thinking.

If one had the time and money to trade a large number of shares on something like this, you could make a killing in a days time - of course you'd be taxed like crazy, but could still come out ahead if you were volume trading a stock for roughly $1 more than you paid per share to buy. At least on BABA today you could've done that a few times, buying on the lows and selling on the highs.

Not a new idea and high risk, but it could've been done on this one today if played right...

so @jmanz, did you just let your limit order go, or did you turn around and do a market order?
I did not do a market order, I cancelled my limit order of 78 and just was a spectator today. Sure jumped to 99 fast and then went down and hovered around 92. If it happens to dip around the mid 80's, I might be a buyer then. Otherwise, on to the next idea.

So, they are looking to offer free trading for individuals w/ no minimum account balance.

I really don't track stocks really closely, a little more and more these days, but still not a huge interest and the number of trades I've done through my fidelity account is minimal.

I do however know some very active individuals and they first pointed this out, but also mentioned many companies have tried this or got their start this way, but they have all eventually went the way of offering limited number of free trades, requiring a minimum balance and then doing away with it to be no different than most other options.

Still, a little interesting if one were looking to dabble and didn't want to deal with per trade charges, etc.

Anybody buy anything on sale today? I added to my collection of KMI shares.
Invested in Watermelons, I figured winter is coming so I should make a killing.
