What's new

The shaving thread

It’s funny how I actually look forward to shaving now. I tried out new aftershave from Cella Milano. It’s super nice. I also try the alum block. It reminds me of the septic pen.

I can’t believe you don’t get into this stuff @jmanz . I know what a cheap bastard you are, and this seems right up your alley for how much money you can save on blades alone.

I don’t know what took me so long to get back into this. This is one of those things in life where it’s quality and when you cheapen out it’s not worth it.
Can't get cheaper than the way I currently do it. Don't need anything of that fancy shit.

How can you get any cheaper than a year's supply for $15. I think each blade is roughly $0.10 cents each.

Probably around what I pay with how I do it. Plus cheap shoving lotion from Walmart. Quick and easy and does just fine. No bleeding, no burns. No need to glorify the process with unneeded stuff IMO.

You should really quit sharing your wife's razor for her legs.

I feel bad, you don't know what your missing.
I guess maybe if you have sensitive skin that needs to be babied or something I could see doing something different. Otherwise I don't see the need for it.

Tried out my old Merkur tonight for a change. I don't know if I can tell a difference between that or the Viking Blade. I used a new Merkur Super Platinum blade as well. But I did try my new aftershave tonight the Clubman Pinaud. Man this stuff is really good, I think this will be my goto aftershave now. It's not a balm but a liquid. Man my face feels good, and the smell is really that old school barber smell. You could probably use it as a cologne as well.

It's funny, I went from shaving being a mundane thing, to actually looking forward to shaving.

She's a butte Clark!

How often do you replace your blade @C Pav ? I mean how many uses per blade?
Depends. I go by feel and when it really tugs and "rips" up my face I change. SOme blades do well for a lot of shaves and some don't. I probably over use my blades but oh well.

What's crazy about this hobby, is how many people look for the old Gillette razors, and how valuable these antiques are. I will have to keep my eyes open more at garage sales/antique stores.

Come on @C Pav do you even razor?

Well let’s see if @C Pav is correct about the Rockwell 6s, I see so many people raving about them online. I ordered one this morning.
