Xbox Achievements won't sync

I was getting a crappy connection on DSL, which I am going to remedy by moving the router to a more accessible area, but while it wasn't working I hooked up the Xbox to my mobile hotspot. It connected fine but since then not a single achievement on XB1 will pop. I stopped using the hotspot and tried going and connecting it to my cable modem but still no dice.

I've contacted MS customer service twice and followed their recommended steps including profile removals, repeated XB1 power cycles, alternate mac address clearing, factory resets, and trying to get the achievements again. They said to wait 72 hours after completing these steps but It's been around 5 days now and still nothing. Today is the day I did the MAC clearing, though, and they said to wait up to 24 hours and try again then contact customer support again.

O.o

XB1 achievements are server side.  I know I've seen some pop days after completing them, but it's usually a game specific issue - and there's been a few games with bugs so the progess didn't track locally to properly trigger the server unlock when reconnected, so even after fixed the only way to get them was to start over and redo the requirement.  Other games, like Destiny, have known issue unlocking some achievement and it can be days/weeks after completing a requirement and it might just magically pop up - or you can go through a certain in game process that triggers something and they unlock.  Game specific though, so wouldn't likely help you

This sounds like what's happening. I tried getting a new achievement on a different game which I had previously gotten all of the achievements (except one) for with a solid connection and it still didn't pop, so IDK. I guess I'll just have to keep trying or buy a new Xbox

I very highly doubt a new Xbox would do any good for this.  Games would be tracking progress locally - but the actual unlock occurs server side.  You can actually have cases where an achievement is "locked", but will show 100% complete - because locally the game knows you finished it, but it has not checked in or whatever to unlock on the servers.  I don't know all the ins and outs, but if your local system can play the games and is tracking progress, I don't see where new console hardware would change the behavior.

Achievements and the system are just quirky at times due to it being controlled server side. Recently playing Life is Strange and I took a photo for an achievement and it didn't pop. I looked and it did show 100% but no matter what it would not pop properly. I finally just went and redid the action and it popped properly. Of course not so easy with difficult ones but a new XBox is not the answer as it's just the system and certain games. Play Destiny and then come talk about it. Many you have to "log out" and back in.

Ah, yeah. Derp. I think today I will try to backup my save locally and then delete my cloud saved game and start over fresh for the specific achievements, then reload the save for continued play, because I noticed it is now properly tracking achievements server-side that I haven't obtained yet.

It will set me back but I really hate giving up what I start.

M soft and blizzard sent me back and forth to each other twice lol. The issue is that I couldn't back up my save game locally (which would allow me to keep the days of progress while also allowing me to get the achievements). The last Blizzard rep said, "OH man that sucks." and "Microsoft right? =p" I said you're both to blame since you both sent me to talk to each other twice.

I don't believe Microsoft doesn't have direct/manual control over achievements. They could have just done a little extra work and given me the achievements instead of giving me the runaround.

I've played tons of games and I am sure that the companies/reps have direct control over their own hardware and software.
