I see the MS store is offering $100 trade in for a 360 or PS3 as well. Looks like you can do this online and ship the item. Downside is you wouldn't get the $100 voucher in time for a purchase while this deal runs, but guess it could net a $100 to put toward some other games or something down the road.
 
Say someone was to get a xbox one, what would be your "must have" games?

Kinda depends on the types of games a person likes.If you enjoyed God of War or Dante's Inferno - maybe check out Ryse

Like driving simulators - Forza

Like driving arcade (like need for speed) - Forza horizon

Fans of Halo would want the Halo Master Chief Collection. I know there have been issues with multiplayer, but the campaigns play well

If you like FPS games, Titanfall is a unique FPS that was a lot of fun. Not sure how many play it these days though

Sunset Overdrive is a fun game. bright colorful world/enemies, jump and grind around town like old tony hawk pro skater stuff, but shoot wacky weapons similar to ratchet and clank.

if you have a group for online cooperative play maybe Evolve

Some might even want to grab the EA Access for $30 a year - currently giving access to Peggle 2, titanfall, Need for speed rivals, battlefield 4, plants vs. zombies garden warfare, and a number of their sports games (Madden, NBA, NHL, etc)

 
Ori and the blind forest is also excellent.

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting - been too many games since launch, just trying to cover some of the bigger exclusives and ones that may be available fairly cheap for a new owner.

I guess if you got one, and your friend had one, and you had one and you wanted to play online games you might have to re-activate gold. I know a place that peddles them at discounted values

From what I was told he was going to go with the 1tb package and he was going to get Forza Horizon 2 for his free game.
 
Best part I see in Major Nelson's post on these games is that there will no longer be 1 new free game and 1 hold over game on the X1. Just two free games each month:

"As a special thank you to our Xbox fans, we’re announcing that starting in July, Games with Gold will offer two new games on Xbox One every month."

 
For anyone that is considering an X1, keep in mind even if you just have gold you can "purchase" these free games now and they'll be ready for you sometime down the road. On the other side, if you have an Xbox One but got rid of your 360 (or never had one), buy all the free Xbox 360 each month - with backwards compatibility coming (or out for preview members) they'll also likely be something you can eventually play on your X1.
 
Does the xbox one come with a trail of gold or anything? (for my friend of course).
 
Never mind looks like they may come with a two week free trail. I'll let my friend know.
