All things related to the Xbox platforms

I think the xbox is the way to go at this point for jmanz. He missed out the last generation playing with everyone. I am sure its the way we will all be going. It's a good time to switch.

I'm really waffling on this decision. I only play about 3-4 hours per week but I do enjoy it when I do. Mainly sports games with a sprinkle of Call of Duty, or a WWE/fighting game. The Show would be a considerable loss, but if the Xbone could deliver a quality product with limited production issues I would be happy. Plus honestly most people that I know will probably be gaming with this vs the PS4.

Well I was one click away from ordering on Amazon at 7am this morning. Just couldn't pull the trigger. Yet anyways. Waiting to read some reviews. I think there was about a 10 minute window that one could order.

So @@jmanz, the reviews of the Xbox One are starting to roll out and I, probably more than most here, have been wading through them wanting to hear all the good, bad and ugly that I can expect in a couple days. Whether there will be hardware issues for some any small percent of purchasers is yet to be seen. Chances are there will be at least a few unlucky souls that get a bum piece of hardware, as did PS4 owners and as do people who by TVs or major appliances. What it comes down to is ecosystem and games for me. It will play games and will do that well. Despite marketing other features, it is at its core a gaming console.Based on everything I've read so far, other than playing games, the cool and new features are working, but reviewers takes on each are different and they could use some work. All of that will be updated, made better, new stuff will come. Look at all the changes the 360 had over its life span. We already know there will be frequent updates initially to iron out features and add new ones.

I think out of the box Friday, the One will offer a solid gaming platform that can easily switch between gaming, watching stuff on Netflix, Skype, etc. On their own those other apps and features coming from the 360 gen (Netflix, Hulu, Skype) will work great on their own. I think the currently more niche uses of controlling your cable box for TV and snapping two apps, etc will be a little rough. They say that it works pretty well now, but once launched feedback from the community will determine what precedence different areas get for patching. Just like the community got their way and now if you get one I can't share any of the 6-8 games I'll own with you....

Should had jumped on it. Now your gonna have to wait in line with the nerds only to lose out.

I just read a review that covered "which should you buy PS4 or Xbox One". I think it was Kotaku, but it was through RSS and I didn't pay a lot of attention to the source, anyway, I thought they summed it up fairly well, though I'll elaborate on one of their points:

If you just want to play games (nothing else): PS4

If you want to play games and other stuff (Stream, etc): Xbox One

If you are torn between the two and can't decide: Xbox One

If you have self control: Neither, wait a while

The last point of course is to give them time to mature. The same could be said for getting any game on day one. I could make that argument for call of duty games. Initially things aren't perfect, there's things people don't like they release update, release matchmaking fixes, etc. The group of guys I play with hated ghosts this year, for the first two weeks. Now they like it. They have always waited until after Xmas to get the new CoD, but now they have me in the group and I upgrade right away, so they did too. They hadn't been through the process of having some shit change over time in the game and were just used to it having things worked out already when they got it

The main point that I didn't total agree with is of course what you should get if you just want to play games. No, not just because they picked PS4, but because they didn't consider or incorrectly considered a couple things:

1) Online play and what do your friends have. If you want to play online, Xbox Live beats PSN hands down, I can only imagine it will do so more with the cloud stuff available for Xbox One and the tremendous increase in the number of Xbox Live servers.

2) They call out the price difference and state Kinect is not central to gaming (other than Kinect games). While true, the fact is it isn't central to gaming YET. The whole purpose in the "forced" purchase of a Kinect is that developers can count on everyone having one if they want to use it in core gaming. Battlefield 4 is already known to make use of it if you want to. I believe it can do some work with both body language and with verbal commands. While it might not add a lot now, it certainly could in upcoming games. If you don't want to regret a choice or have to buy both, then this would be worth considering as well.

Will watch when I get home, I love Francis.
I have only watched the ones that you post here, but his demeanor in this one is way different, so far anyway, 8 minutes into the 15 and mostly he is calmly discussing the pros/cons of it with Larry Hyrb (Major Nelson)

He's actually normal, and a pretty wise guy. His just does his "Francis" character because it's the most popular. It's weird watching him be normal in his other youtube videos. I am glad that he does so well with youtube to make his living.
