What's new

All things related to the Xbox platforms

I will admit the xbox updates are hands down better than the Playstation and least on the 360 vs. the PS3.
The 360 system updates were a little better (generally not so huge). The game updates were insanely better, a few MB update on the 360 could be a few GB update to the PS3 version of a game. The 360 I think allowed handing updates as just pushing delta's (changes) in the code and not a huge amount of code.Time will tell what that looks like on the new systems.

I disagree ......There was/is nothing I like better than having maybe an an hour or so to play a bit of a game on the PS3 and after turning on my system having to download and install an update which took up the whole free time I had to play the game I intended.

Loks like the XBox One can be ordered from Amazon. I also heard best Buy may have them to order as well.

Either Amazon is withholding stock, or the Xbox One assembly lines are flying. Amazon just had them in stock earlier this week and sold out. Apparently they (MS) weren't lying about making sure there'd be ample opportunity to get ahold of them this holiday season. Bet anyone that paid two arms and a leg on ebay or something feels bad

PlayStation 4: Top selling platform of the month.

3DS Estimate: 770K [November 2012 was 540K, November 2011 was 795K]

Xbox 360: 647K (-48.7%)

Wii U: 220K

well, you posted it in both, but I saw it in the PS4 one first, so you can see my write up about the skewing of the first couple stats by either company there

So we just got one in here at work. First time I have seen one. Controller is well... meh. Feels kinda cheaper than the last one. But the buttons feel better. But it's wanting us to update and the guys downstairs have spent the last hour tying to update over wireless/wired but it won't go. Their trying something with a USB stick now. Not a good way to start out.

Sounds like they are morons or your work network is blocking something. Took me about 10 minutes after unboxing to have cables plugged in (including wired network), apply the update and be up and running.

I think you are correct. They keep things locked down so tight around here it's pointless.

@@nodle, what made you think the controller feels kinda cheaper? The lighter weight?

The controller did take a little getting used to since it is a little smaller, and it is lighter. I think of smartphones a bit. Some people want their smartphone to feel like holding a feather, but others think it makes them feel cheap and not sturdy. I'm one that does like some heft with a smartphone. I've also become accustomed to having the chat pad on my 360 controller for extra weight (and better connection to my headphones). I do wish the Xbox One controller were heavier, but I'm probably a part of a pretty small minority that doesn't want it lighter.

I liked the look. But yes I think it was just the lighter feel too it. Maybe a thinner plastic. It's just different than the 360's. But the two thumb controls were way better. I really didn't get to hold it enough to make a final decision. I'm not bashing it, it just felt lighter... different.

It definitely feels different. Like I've said a few times, it took me a bit to get used to the new one

I'll tell you what the machine was alot bigger than I expected.
Apparently you didn't look at any pictures. It is fairly big, but you've seen the teardown right? It's a lot of empty space and a big ass fan for airflow

No I saw your pictures, and have seen tons of photos online. But that's my first real world look at it and dam it's huge!

I wouldn't say huge is accurate. It certainly isn't small, but it isn't that much bigger than the 360 slim. While some might prefer it be smaller, I think its a wise design decision to give it plenty of airflow, given the thermal images we've seen and overheating issues some have seen with the PS4 already.

I went down and looked at the machine a little closer. It is big, but it is light also. Re-held the controller. It's way lighter, but I like the matte finish better, it won't hold grease or finger prints. Buttons including the D-pad feel good. Seems a little smaller. It's just something to get use too. Power big is huge also. But smaller than the old 360's. It will be my machine to pick when the time comes. There are no games out for it right now that makes me want to get one. Maybe a XBLA game. But no reason to get one yet. Plus they are really going to need to get the 3D on there for me to purchase. I know someone of you don't think it's that big of deal but for my setup it is.

Kinda funny how things have flipped now. Looks like ps4 are widely available now, but the Xbox ones are still hard to find.

Yeah it's a back and forth thing it seems. I was surprised to see several ps4s in stock at the local wal-mart yesterday but have yet to see an xbox one anywhere. However, certain stores and online retailers seem to have the XBox in stock. I guess it's the market in this town. I always knew it was a XBox town.

According to online it seems like Best Buy have a large stock of PS4s in stock, but no xboxs.
