Well, guess Sony didn't beat them. The update to bring media player to Xbox started rolling out yesterday. I think currently it is just playback from USB devices and another update will bring DLNA playback from servers though
 
Also, for any X1 owners looking forward to Destiny and on the digital bandwagon, the Destiny digital pre-order went live yesterday. You can now purchase the standard or guardian editions digitally and pre-load the game prior to release, and begin playing anytime after midnight PST on 9/9 I believe.

I don't think any regulars are currently in the market for a new console, but in case anyone is holding out or considering it, you can get a pretty decent deal on the Xbox One next week.

Buy the console (or a bundled version) and get any free game of your choosing, including new (or to be released next week games). So that could be Destiny, Madden 15, NHL 15, Titanfall, Watch Dogs, or whatever other game. Best deal would be to find a bundle (Madden or Forza bundles I think are what exist today) so you'd get the console + 2 games

Xbox one launch in Japan didn't go to well compared to the PS4. Same location.

D4 became available last night. Not too many reviews yet, but seem pretty favorable. Sounds kinda like a point-n-click puzzle/mystery game.

Flockers also released - apparently some spin-off of the Worms games with similar game play

Media Player DLNA and MKV support – Members of the preview program who have also downloaded the latest version of the Media Player app will now have support for DLNA streaming. With this update, you will be able to easily access and play music, watch photo slideshows or movies stored on home media servers and devices that support the DLNA server protocols. Additionally, you will now be able to playback MKV files stored on a USB device or a device on your home network that supports DLNA streaming.
