@ndboarder@C Pav, what is this new Friends & Family program that they are coming out with? Will you be able to share your Gamepass Ultimate or something with your friends? Because I am going to need to sign up again.
Haven't seen much about it, seems like just leaks indicating maybe a family option.  Presumably it would be a little more expensive tier, but could be shared with family members (or friends?).  Sounds like a good way for buddies to share the cost if it can work that way.

I ordered the official Xbox wireless headset again. I was looking into the Turtle Beach 600 Gen 2, but just decided to go with what I had last time. I just like how it is all incorporated in. I had to order off the official Microsoft store as well since Amazon and most other places are running scalpers pricing.

I do.  It's heavier, which is nice I think.

Built in rechargeable battery you cannot get at or change. Plug it in to USB-c, or plug its case in and set it in the case for charging.

The RB/LB shoulder buttons can be changed so you don't pull them as far.  On Series 2 this was improved so that changing the throw distance of the button still registered the full 0-100 range.  This way if you are using it as say a throttle you can still go full speed, you are stuck at 25% motion as you were with the series 1 (unless you fixed it through software + the controller option)

The swappable sticks/d-Pad are nice, but I mostly just use the standard setup anyway.  The ability to change the tension of moving the sticks is also cool on this version compared to the first, but not something I've played with.

To me, the biggest reason to ever have an Elite type controller is the ability to use paddles.  They can be mapped to any button.  They CANNOT be made any kind of macro / button combination.  For me, I used the 4 buttons to replace A/B/X/Y so taht I could press all buttons without ever having to take a thumb off the sticks.  this was great for having full movement/look (strafe/aim) control while still being able to perform any jumping, sliding, throwing, shooting.  All personal preference, I know others that liked to tie them to the stick click (R3/L3) so they didn't have to press the thumb sticks down.

All the other features are nice, but I don't personally think it's worth the investment unless you really want the paddles and intend to get a lot of use out of it.  In hindsight, I wouldn't have ordered my Series 2, as I just don't play enough anymore to be worth it.

Would you recommend the Microsoft protection plan warranty from Microsoft? It costs $49 for 3 years.

Nevermind, I purchased it and the Microsoft rep even gave me a discount on it as well.
Talk to me about Microsoft's cloud gaming. Does this mean it's like Amazon's Luna and all you need is a controller and no console? Or am I confusing it with something it's not?
Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) with Xbox Game Pass | Xbox
Yes, you are correct.  No console, it just streams the games to your PC/phone/tablet.  If you have gamepass you can go to Xbox.com/play to start, sign in and play gamepass games with a controller connected to your PC or paired to your phone/tablet.  There's some games that support touch controls from a phone/tablet to be able to play without a controller too.

I haven't done a lot with it, but it has gotten better so that things are mostly playable that I've tried.  I do think there's some lag, but for solo game play it should work fairly well.
I wonder if this is the future then, will Microsoft eventually kill off the Xbox, then go this route? Looks like @ryanator was right.

Well, it has a long ways to go before that I think.  Possible someday?  sure, probably.  Today, at least on the xbox side it's just the gamepass games as far as I know due to licensing and all that.  But check out the xbox.com/play to see what's there if you have a subscription.  So, not all games can be played this way on the Xbox side at least. A fair number, but not a lot of 3rd party stuff.

Then there's multiplayer games.  Cooperative ones might be alright, but even then I don't know if I'd want a player on my team that had a big lag difference because their game was streaming to them.  It might work well for some, but not others, depending on their connection speeds to the server hosting their game.
