What's new

All things related to the Xbox platforms

So, let's see my first weekend back:

Played the crap out of Wreckfest, it's just fun.

Played Aliens Fireteam, it was fun and could be more fun with co-op

I played a little Red Dead Redemption 2, such a beautiful game. I will get back into this soon.

Kids took over and played Pepa the pig and Disneyland adventures.

I purchased Metro since it was on sale.

Considering purchasing Dragon Age game of the year edition only like $8, how is this @C Pav @ndboarder?

Have a few things downloading.

Topped of the night playing Kentucky Route Zero, this is strange, but I dig strange games.

Let's talk about power settings, what do you guys use? The energy efficient one, or the instant on one? I am confused, I read online that the power system can still install games in the background when powered off? Is that true? Or is it only for the instant on one? That is really the only feature I want.

Only instant-on can download in the background while powered off, since this is more of a sleep mode.  The energy efficient one is the console being entirely powered off, no auto-updates, no auto-downloads, etc.
Thanks, Ya I just did some more searching and found:

In energy saver mode the only thing the system will download is system updates.
So no games just updates only.

My dream for the Xbox this Fall:

A new Costume Quest 3 game.

A new Alan Wake game.

Talk to me about external storage, and Seagate's expansion card. I know that the Seagate expansion card is supposed to be the way to go, and it will act just like the default storage only more. But that price tag is way, way overprice for what you are getting. Microsoft must have had a deal with them, since there are no other brands of them. No what about these external drives. They are basically mad just to store games correct so that you don't have to download the game again, correct?
Looking good!
Hmm... looks a lot like phone interface I had once (that would still be anything existing today if it had made it), or like a Win 8 start screen.   I don't recall you thinking those looked good... ?  Hopefully I don't ruin your xbox for you

Honesty, I think the current UI for the Xbox is a mess. I think that there is a lot to be improved upon. Sony interface has it down. I am seeing hints of that from the new screen shots of the new Xbox UI.

I am noticing it is more centered and the settings are at the top. Instead of floating around all the time. From the two screen shots I have seen posted so far, it looks like hovering on a game will change the background like Sony's. To me it looks way cleaner. I am looking forward to it.

I don't really use the home screen I guess.  Press the Xbox button on controller, navigate through that for settings, friends, recent games.  By comparison, I find navigating the PS5 menus a disaster - just depends on what you are used to really
