What's new

Amazon's console

I saw this earlier today. Based on some of the buttons there is it gonna be their own Ouya? That is if it's really gonna be anything. The controller obviously takes a lot of design cues from an Xbox Controller, but to me looks like it would be pretty uncomfortable to hold. Way to big of a flat surface on the top. Amazing how a few missing curves and the flat looking top can take it from looking comfortable and durable (Xbox controller) to looking like a cheap, uncomfortable mess

Not saying Amazon won't succeed. Just saying that I sure hope they redesign that controller... You're right, the shape looks more like the Wii U, but the button, stick, D-Pad layout is Xbox all the way, plust the Wii-U controller is pretty much a rip on the Xbox controller as well.

If there is one thing ever that Microsoft got right, it was the design of the 360 and Xbox One controllers...

Most people say online that the Wii-u pro controller is the best controller out of every system. I personally have never held one so I don't know.

I read about that thing too. I have mixed feelings about Amazon though. They have sales on PC games and free game of the day android for kindle games, but will they let other and android devices have access to there store? I haven't tried that on my phone. *shrug* I don't see Amazon instant video in the google play store.

Iterative updates. They'll make a first edition run. Release a better controller with the only difference of the plastic on the outside, same PCB inside and functionality.

It could just be a prototype. Let's not forget the Steam controller. That changed over time also.

I'm not sold on the steam controller either. It does at least look comfortable, but I'm not sure about the touch thumbstick things. I know I suck at onscreen thumbsticks, so not sure about touch versions on a physical controller. I know there's some raised areas, so it would be a little better at least

Here is the latest version. See how much it has changed? Amazon' could too.

Yeah, I'd seen the new look of it. It never looked bad, I'm just not sure about those touch areas as controllers for me personally. It might be OK with the raised rings to give more of an idea where your thumb is. I'm also curious about how it would feel in the hand with those huge grips that seem to jut out on the front and back.

From that latest picture of the Steam controller it's too large and no joysticks don't appeal to me. The bottom where your palm holds it is way to large. That part needs to be smaller. Just ask anyone who used the original XBox controller.
