Inflation & the upcoming recession
New numbers for used cars just out today...
I was reading about the forecast for the vehicle market, and used has gone up 40% since the start of the shortages, they said to wait a year, so end of this year, beginning of 2023 to start to see decent prices again.  Car manufactures by that time will hopefully be able to fulfill most demands and flood the market again with newer vehicles and drive the prices down of used.

The housing market is just lunacy right now with skyrocketed prices.  With mortgage rates rising, economy stuff, etc.., and hopefully demand slowing down, prices should fall some, but the problem is realtors, real estate investment firms, house flippers, or people looking to downsize will hold onto these prices which seem to control the market heavily.  Forecasts show this may take at least a year or two, in some areas being hit harder. People just looking to get into a house or sensibly upgrade are in bad times.

So here is something that came to my mind. It all started to make sense to me. Obviously, they are wanting people to switch to electric vehicles, they have stated it many times. So, I have been waiting for a month for my oil filter for my car to come in stock. It is due to a supply chain issue. We are also having the same problem with our vehicles here at work, no oil filters anywhere. So, what if all these shortages of oil filters are on purpose? Think about it. No oil filter, no way to change your oil. Electric cars don't use them. Seems like something is going on behind the scenes.

If only they had the supplies to make electric vehicles 🤣
China does... Oh, wait now we are seeing the bigger picture here.

Well inflation from fuel prices is starting to hit close here. We raised our prices back in January because we foresaw the rising fuel costs. Well, our competitor here in town just sent out an email yesterday saying that they must raise their prices due to fuel costs. They raised everything double! 😬 So things just got really expensive for people doing any construction projects around here.

I said it will take some time for things to sweep across the country. And next summer will be when you really feel it.

Speaking of inflation and rising prices for everything think about insurance for your home. To rebuild it will cost almost double what it was when bought.
I never thought about it @C Pav but I bet you're right. I bet your insurance rates will increase due to inflation.

Going to have to hike rates more. Used cars went down, but new cars went up. Gonna have to tighten more.

My wife said all the spaghetti noodles and noodles, all frozen breads are completely empty in our stores. Probably due to the lack of wheat.

I went to the grocery store last night and here is what I saw. No canned cat food anywhere. No baby formula on the shelf at all. No noodles on the shelf except for some bowtie and some other weird design. No frozen breadsticks, or frozen breads.

Funny how "essential" things seem to have shortages but never see issues with things like alcohol and cigerettes.
