What's new

Inflation & the upcoming recession

Are chain restaurants starting to lower their prices due to not getting as much business anymore? I know I saw Mcdonalds has their new $5 meal, and I see DQ is still pushing their $7 meal still. I think they might be back peddling.

So I am trying to figure out my internet bill with Spectrum. At the end of last year, I was paying $34.99. Then in January it went up to $54.99, then in May it went up to $69.99. Now I just got my new one and it went up to $89.99. Now I have had it for a long time so it was years ago when I had a promo. This increase is just normal rates and not the end of a promo. So, I got on with chat last night and tried asking why the increase? She could honestly not answer me. I said there must be a reason, she said she did not know, and my bill shows that it will be increased to $97.99 in the upcoming months. I will be paying almost $100 for a 300mbps down internet up from $34.99 in almost a year. At this rate I am thinking about going Starlink.

It's only been a couple of days, and I have read that most Walmart are out of toilet paper, water, and paper towels on the east coast and people are reporting it spreading to Texas and other southern states. It looks like we might have another toilet paper shortage like back in 2020.

So it begins, I have had a few things in my cart for about a month or so on Amazon, things like Keyboards (import) and even Lego sets (import). I have been checking the last few days as a test with the new dock strikes to see if they would increase, low and behold today keyboard went up from $5-$10 more, and the Legos increased $5 more. I think it's only been $3 days so far.

I am hearing good things about the housing market in the upcoming next year. I just talked with a builder and after today they already locked in two new home builds. Sounds like people were watching and waiting to see the election results.

I 100% agree with this. We just don't go out anymore. What they don't understand is they think they are going to bring in more income by raising their prices, but instead all it takes is one time and that returning customer no longer comes back. Eventually you price yourself out of business.

Example, we went to a company party at a small restaurant last Friday for a Christmas party. They charged $14.99 for chips and salsa. WTF! Most Mexican restaurants used to give you this for free even before your meal.
