What's new

Inflation & the upcoming recession

Went to the grocery store to buy meat tonight. I have never seen the meat dept. wiped out like that before. Not from sales but lack of ordering. The meat prices are so high that they are just no longer ordering meat which is causing them to be out. If you read my posts above the last few times I have been in they have been reducing their meat and it has been brown. Since they are probably losing money by having to sell it cheaper or even toss, they have gone to just not ordering and stocking it anymore. I had never seen it like that the entire time I have lived here.

Is that what the grocery store workers said? I haven't seen anything like that here. Things are well stocked.

Either that or someone bought up all the meat or someone forgot to order meat. We even asked the meat cutter in the back by pushing open the door and asked if they had anymore and the guy said no.

Could be a combination of the two things. They didn't order quite as much and people snatched up what they did have.

Grocery stores are always a strange balance. You have to have it on hand to sell, but to much you eat the cost of waste.
