I do take time off, but I also pick up hours. Our vacation scale goes on hours worked. Last year I worked 600 hours more than what I would have needed to to meet my hired schedule (32 hours/week). I went on several vacations last year, (to include Las Vegas) but it just so happens that when I pick up shifts to be above 32 hours per week, my PTO does not get cut even if I was on vacation.....if that makes any sense :smt017 I know the week that I went to las vegas, Sarah and I had 7 days off in a row and it only cost me like 4 hours of PTO.
I wish I still worked for the school. My wife is the PE teacher at the High School and their benefits are awesome. 2 personal days a year, 10 sick days, 10 vacation days, plus a great retirement account, good insurance, and other sweet kickers. I mean she only has to work 9 months of the year nd she makes almost 34000(well that's adding her coaching pay on top of her standard salary). She just started last year.
