I have purchased many brands of shoes, but the two brands that I have been impressed on how well they have held up is Columbia and Keens. They both seem to last fairly long and don't break down as much as some other brands that I have tried. Do you have a shoe brand that you stick with?
 
I have been on the shoe hunt lately; everything is ugly or doesn't fit my needs. I said screw it and got a pair of Dad New Balances.

Not bad. Beats the price of the overly highly remcommended and rated Hoka shoes. Don't get me wrong a good shoe is a good shoe and worth a higher price BUT $165 compared to this $85? Debatable. When they say shoes should be replaced every so and so many miles or 6 months I find it hard to spend $165.

I always try to find the $160 shoes on deep discounts. Usually last years model. I'm trying out Brooks Beast I found for $80 at Scheels. Have been an Asics guy for years but they don't hold up well anymore unless I go to their top of the line.

They might work for you. I love them but I have one specific place in the back of the shoe that always deteriorates fairly quickly. And every model of theirs fails for me except for the Gel-Kayano line. Those last a long time for me.
 
I got my shoe order yesterday, my one pair at least. I wasn't that impressed. Traction seemed poor, and wasn't comfortable at all. Seemed like the quality of a $20 Walmart shoe. I am supposed to get the other pair today. I am sending the first pair back.
 
I got my other pair of New Balance ones yesterday. They are better might keep them to try for what I paid for them. I have been wearing a pair of Under Armour shoes lately, and surprisingly they have been pretty comfy and have held up well.
