What's new

The shaving thread

Got my blades and box the other day. Customer service was great, they forgot a couple of things in my box, but they sent them out right away and some extra blades to make up for the trouble. I did use one last night, and it was a night a day difference in the sharpness of the blade compared to Dollar Shave blades.

So who here uses an electric razor? I think I got one years and years ago for Christmas from an x-girlfriend and never used it. I have been looking at them lately again. Costco has a Phillips one. I wouldn't mind having on for traveling as well. I wonder if they are less irritating than a regular razor?

I use an electric as a finisher after the blades. Just to go over everything again and get the ears and neck. I just have an old one I've had forever.

Do you find less irritation with it? The last time I shaved my neck looked like I tried to end myself. I did put some beard oil on it which seemed to help. I do you aftershave but man it was bad. I might pick myself up one to try. The Costco special is pretty decent with the travel case and extra heads to last for 2 more years.

Philips Norelco Shaver 6600 With SenseIQ Technology, Series 6000 | Costco

Doesn't irritate my face any but I'm used to it after all these years. And I use no aftershave.

Well picked up the Norelco today from Costco. She is charging, might try out later on this evening or tomorrow morning. I will let you know what I think.

Well, I tried a dry shave this morning. There is circular technique to it vs. a up and down motion of a regular razor. It worked ok, then I went over it with a regular razer to see what it missed, and it wasn't much. You can't get your sideburns or your upper lip by your nose those. My next shave I will try a wet shave with it to see the difference.

What I like about using an electric after regular razor is that you don’t have to buy new razor blades that often. Not that you want dull blades but you don’t need to constantly have brand new ones this way.

Never thought about it like that. My face feels 'softer', but it's probably placebo.

So, I tried the electric razor again. This time I got my face wet in the shower and got out and tried it (no lube or shaving cream). I didn't care for it as much as the dry shave with the electric. It seemed to get less. I still followed up with a normal razor.

Now try regular razor first and finish with electric afterwards.
