Windows 8 OS

Your tools not working is a problem with your tools, as in the makers need to update them. As far as control you have as much as ever before. The feel is certainly different. I wouldn't call it "kiddyish", but if you get used to it its fine. There's a number of things that now that I'm used to them, I'd prefer 8 over prior versions. Much like I grew to prefer the XP control panel to prior ones.
 
Just purchased an Asus laptop that came with Windows 8.

My wife doesn't seem to mind it. I also don't mind it since I was using it at school this past semester.

all in all I think it is a good operating system.

It's pretty easy to get use to using.

 
I finally made the switch at home awhile back. Started as a test, but for what I am using it for it works just fine. I have to admit the faster start up times are the best.

How timely!I am trying to get ready for Elite: Dangerous. I need to reconfigure my PCs, which will involve formating/installing an OS on a drive. I was just looking at prices on amazon. Its about $3 cheaper for win8.

 
I think with 8.1 it really made a difference. There are some things I still miss from Windows 7, but overall just for the speed I think it is worth it now.

You will be perfectly fine with these. I guess I miss opening things the old way is all. Say I need Notepad I was just use to it in the Windows 7 way. I just have to get use to the Windows 8 way.
 
I still have that problem with win7, especially at work. When I need anything but email or Chrome I usually nudge around for it.

I'm only compelled to update because I need another license anyhow, so why not?
