All things related to the Xbox platforms

Seeing the Titanfall bundle coming out on March 11 may lead me to finally jump in and buy it. Wish the game was a physical copy but for free basically who can complain?
Way to go! I'm looking at better headsets that do game sound in addition to chat. Thinking I'll likely be picking up the Polk 4 shots. Nice that both game and chat come through the controller to the headset and can just mute the TV if others are doing things nearby. All this to say, we'll have to do some Titanfall-ing when you get it sirIn regard to your wish for physical disk, WHY??!!!?? I know you like your physical stuff, but I'm trying to stay all digital. It's so nice to not take up space in a movie/game rack, and just go click the game and be able to play what you want from your collection without having to go dig out a disc, put it in the Xbox, take the one that was in there out and track down a case.

I think if they were wise they would just drop the system $100 less to match the price of the PS4. I think they would have alot more sales from this.

I cannot disagree with you here. They'd certainly probably increase sales, but it would also probably mean losing money on the sales rather than making money on the sales. I'm sure the price drop will come eventually, but it's only 4 months (not quite) into the new generation that will last years. It's a marathon not a sprint, so I don't think they'll do it anytime soon since it would likely piss off existing customers that bought full price (personally I wouldn't care). That and outside of gaming enthusiasts many are going to wait until there's a larger library of exclusive titles or until that one big game they were waiting for and have to get a new console to play comes out. I'm going to be interested to see whether there's any up-tick noted publicly about sales after the Titanfall launch, or similarly after other exclusives start cropping up over the coming months.

First I will say that I think almost every system has always been sold a loss due to them making the difference up in software sales. It wouldn't hurt to drop the price but it's not really the biggest thing needed right now to increase sales. I think sales have been just fine for the price point it is at. The biggest need is some amazing games to get people to buy the system. Titanfall will be the start but I am now not so excited about it and may hold off. reason is because it's all online multiplayer. Sure that's the big thing to most gamers but I like my game to be single player first then multiplayer if I want to do that.

You're correct. Almost every console system has been sold at a loss initially. Then the rest of the console's life span is spent trying to slowly recover that. According to some articles linked in another thread about Sony's finances, it sounded like they still haven't recovered the cost of the PS3s.

I saw somewhere that for the average console sale, only 1 to 2 games are sold. That's right, those of us here with tons of games for any system are the minority. Most people by a console and then no more than a handful of games. If you are losing a fair amount on each console and making a small royalty on game sales, getting them to wash out is tough....

The March update is being shipped now

This is the bigger of the updates announced so far. Biggest items it includes is improved friend/party options, controller firmware update (some control adjustment I think, but mostly to add support for headset adapter), Dolby digital/5.1 through optical port, twitch broadcasting support (will require updated twitch app due next week)

Plenty of other changes and fixes in it, full list and the link above to Major Nelson

Yeah, 3D BD would be nice, but I'd guess that's more an app update than a full system update. While I do agree with you personally, most people don't give a crap about 3D so I don't know how long to expect this to take to show up

Seems semi-click-bait-ish to me. Can it catch up? It's what, 3.5-4 months into a likely 8-10 year race? They did at least put half a thought into it mentioning a possible boost from Titanfall. Claiming the price HAS to drop is pretty much just moronic. I debated that the other day. yes, more would sell, but it would be a costly thing just to say more consoles have been sold. In reality what does it matter if Sony sells 2 more consoles or 2 million more consoles. If people are buying the Xbox ONe and each one is a profitable sale, and each person buys games, then the current scenario is a win anyway.

Besides with WW3 coming and Sony going bankrupt it doesn't matter.... ;)

Ya I hate to say it but from a site called Fool.com, I would find it hard to believe anything from there.

Actually its a very legit site. They mainly write about stocks and businesses.
