What's new

All things related to the Xbox platforms

Oh, I know it's a legit site for the most part, but they still run very sensationalistic and opinionated pieces, like about every other web based news outlet.

Titanfall is OUT!! yeah, I know, everyone here knows (right?).

Anyway, working from home due to some illness, so lunch break will be spent playing.

Watch it live -- http://www.twitch.tv/ndboarder

The feed is live now, but you'll just see the title screen. Expect game play to startup around 11:30ish CST and run until 12:00-12:30 depending how I feel.

I'll check it out, right now all I see is photos of Bill Gates Photoshopped nude with hearts all over the place? o_O

yeah, for now I just figured everyone would want to see that. Gameplay will hopefully go live in about 25 - 30 minutes, assuming my work stuff going on doesn't kill my upload speed....

wow, few minute delay on Twitch I guess. As a test I had it play the intro, and I bet it was 50% through the intro on the TV when it showed the intro start on the Twitch feed.

well, looks like you didn't try till after I quit attempting to broadcast. I wasn't sure if it was twitch or Titanfall having issues. May have been Twitch since I think I had an old version. I took care of that and tested with Ghosts briefly and it seemed to work. When I have a chance I may try Titanfall again a little later this afternoon for 30 minutes or so, otherwise maybe tomorrow

Could go here or the PS4 related, but I'll just put them here. Basically all the same story, pretty similar, and many others. Basically all from latest sales figures between the two. PS4 still narrowly outsold the Xbox One in February (pre-Titanfall). Narrowly seems like a loose term as the difference is about 30,000 consoles; however, while Sony sold more, Microsoft made more.

Then again, they are just talking console sales. Xbox One comes with Kinect. PS4 the camera is separate, and despite everyone saying you shouldn't need a camera, it is apparently a hot commodity and tough to find.

Anyway, for anyone thinking Sony is just running away in the console war, the march sales figures should be interesting...

Xbox prepares punishment system. Am I the only one that thinks this is bad? Can you imagine the kids rating you bad just because you beat them in a game?

The more hours you play fairly online without being reported as abusive by other players, the better your reputation will be. The algorithm looks to identify players that are repeatedly disruptive across the community on Xbox Live. The vast majority of players do not regularly receive feedback from other players and, thus, will stay at the "Good Player" reputation level."Good Players" –

The majority of gamers will fall into this level. As we've said before, we have plans to introduce rewards for good behavior and look forward to sharing more in the future!

Warnings for "Needs Work" –

Beginning this month, some players will start receiving reputation warnings as their reputations drop due to feedback from the community. The purpose of these communications is to remind players about their effect on the community and encourage them to have more positive interactions. These warnings are based on community feedback collected since Xbox One launched.

Penalties for "Avoid Me" –

If players do not heed warnings and continue to have a negative impact on other players and the Xbox Live community, they will begin to experience penalties. For example, people with an "Avoid Me" rating will have reduced matchmaking pairings and may be unable to use certain privileges such as Twitch broadcasting.

Well, I was also just reading the other day about a potential reward system for good players. Not sure if this is some competing policy or a replacement or what. The short answer, is I agree that it could be bad, if people start to abuse it. The idea's always been around though.

The number of people that take time to actually report someone is pretty low though. I've been on Xbox Live for years and as far as I know my reputation has never changed. Of course I have no clue whether any friends have submitted positive reviews, or how many poor sports have filed complaints either. I do know that the numbers were not enough to move me off of a neutral rating.

The Xbox One doesn't make it any easier to go do this. You have to really want to go do it. I suppose in something that's more 1 on 1, maybe a poor sport would go file a complaint for no good reason, but in many online games where it is 6 vs. 6 or more, you have to really stand out from the crowd I think. At least I know the people I report are ones that really get irritating.

There's people that just won't shut up and are continually talking, whether it's to someone on the phone or have music blaring, but not to someone in the game. These people I just mute. No report, nothing happens to them, but for the game we are playing I don't have to hear it, and if I run into them in the future they are still muted.

On the other hand there are the out of control trash talkers, constantly yelling at someone, swearing repeatedly, accusing anyone that does kill them of cheating or camping with much profanity, etc. These are the ones that I will take time to note their gamertag during play and make sure to file a complaint afterwards.

Xbox One Production Could Temporarily Cease

Too much supply and not enough demandMicrosoft has revealed its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal 2014. During an investor call, the company reported that there was a gross revenue of $20.4 billion for the period of January 1 to March 31, 2014 with a net income of $5.66 billion, Gamasutra reported. While the Xbox One was not the primary topic of discussion, implications were made that Xbox One production might cease or slow down in the coming months.

I about tacked this on a different thread, but not really fitting there. Anyway, Skype made their group video call a free feature a week or two ago if you missed it. Currently this applies to the Skype desktop client and Xbox One client, to eventually roll out to all devices.

The better part for Xbox One owners though is that only one user in the call needs to have rights to do group video, so if you have a number of family members to bring together for a video chat you can do so from your Xbox One now (though you have Skype premium for 1 year as a result of your purchase anyway) or from your desktop Skype client on a PC.

Figured for anyone with young kids and groups of parents/grandparents/great-grandparents looking to get to video chat and limited time it might be handy....
