What's new

All things related to the Xbox platforms

The media player came last month, but only from local storage. October update apparently adds DLNA (yay) and MKV.

They also announced today that the Plex app will be available this week for the X1 and coming soon on 360. While Plex is basically a DLNA server anyway their interface is pretty nice. May have to get busy with my Blu-ray to digital conversion process one of these years.

I'm waiting for PS4 to try to beat them like they did on the 3D.
Well, Sony has known its coming since August when they announced the player would come in September and DLNA would follow it in a later update.

Sounds like people are pissed because they had to "dumb down" the PS4 to match the xbox. Get with the times xbox!

Maybe you should blame the correct party, as in Ubisoft. Sounds more like they just rushed development and wanted a scapegoat to me. There are numerous games running at 1080p and 60fps on the Xbox One. Destiny runs at that rate on both consoles.I think it's about time you figure out whose really to blame and stfu.

Here is the sad part about a month ago or so they announced there was a 1080p for PS4. So we know it wasn't a limitation of the game engine. So xbox comes out with one 1080p game. Man they must had rounded up some extra power to push that. In this day and age there is no excuse that everything can't be 1080p. Even if you don't notice a difference there still is no excuse. Shoot there are PC games starting to come out in 4k. Time to get with the times.

Here was their official reply:

"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff,"

@nodle do you read anything people say, or just make up your own shit. One game? I gave one example. There are others. I won't bother to go do your research for you, but off hand I know the Forza games and Alien isolation are 1080p.

Xbox 360 and PS3 had 1080p, the new systems are both more powerful than the older systems. Developers are just rushing their products to the market and cutting corners because it's been the norm and they can.

Is the PS4 technically slightly more powerful? Yes. Does that mean the Xbox One cannot do 1080p? No. There are example out there that it can, so obviously it is not entirely an issue with the system.

Kind of like the iPhone being far less powerful than any of it's competitors flagship devices, yet I don't see you ripping on that. Developers take the time to get things to run on it anyway.

And yes, I saw their official reply yesterday. Hence the reason I said they wanted to cut corners and used a scape goat. But as I alluded to in my last post, I have a feeling you barely skim others' posts and just assume its something you can use to throw up some more of your own agenda/propaganda/justifications.

Coworker is trying to sell me his Xbox 1 for $200. He wants to buy the new CoD one coming out.

No proof yet, but interesting.

The Xbox One sold better than the PlayStation 4 in September, according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter. He is estimating that Microsoft sold 325,000 new Xbox Ones at U.S. retailers last month while Sony sold 250,000 PS4s. This is notable because Sony’s system has sold better than Microsoft’s in nearly every month since each gaming device launched in November. September is also when Activision launched its blockbuster sci-fi shooter Destiny, which Sony helped market as a PS4 game even though it is also available on Xbox One and the older systems. Both corporations are locked in a battle in the console-gaming sector, which is worth billions of dollars in the U.S. alone.“We expect Xbox One sales to exceed those of the PS4 for only the second month since launch, Pachter said in a note to investors. These Wedbush numbers are just a prediction, and we should learn if they are accurate this Thursday when industry-tracking firm The NPD Group reveals its sales data for the month of September.

Had no idea they outsold them nearly every single month. Figured it would bounce around and be more even.

You have to admit, the xbox has been doing great since the new guy took over. They are pumping out updates left and right even more than the PS4.
