What's new

Lets discuss barbecuers

Almost got rained out, I had to crank it up and get her cooked fast. Turned out great though, new seasoning had rosemary in it and it tasted delicious.

Go figure I have had a cold this week, cooked a huge tri-tip last night with a brand-new seasoning that I was excited to taste. I also cooked some portabella mushrooms which I love as well. Then I go to take a bite and I cannot taste anything.

About 3 years ago I purchased the little tinfoil cups for my trigger that fit perfectly into the little grease bucket. I paid $5 for about a 6 pack of them. I was in the same store where I purchased them and saw them, they are now $15 for 6, what a joke!

Crazy. I still have a few left.

What I use in place now (and is way cheaper), is line your bucket with tinfoil for extra protection, then use an old glass jar from like an old pickle jar to catch the grease.

I had to break out my old propane grill over the last week. It does have its advantages. Instant heat. I am used to cooking with my Traeger with slow rising heat, let's just say my first few burgers and hotdogs were charred lumps of coal.

Well it's like Spring over here so I busted out my grill and cooked up a trip tip for dinner, it came out nice as well.

I am going to need to get a new cover for my grill; the UV eats these covers. I seem to only make it a couple of years before they fall apart.

Looks like everyone is recommending Santa Maria seasoning for tri tip.
Well I picked someone of this up tonight and tried it out on a Tri-tip. I wasn’t all that impressed. It was to lightweight. I prefer a more heavier seasoning.

If you like the convenience of "set it and forget it," I'd go with a Traeger. If you enjoy the whole smoking process and don't mind spending more time tending the fire, Oklahoma Joe's is a great choice. It really depends on how you like to cook.

Well I have been seeing a lot of folks talking about this seasoning, so I picked some up today and tried it out on a Tri-tip. I was somewhat worried saying it had hints of jalapeño but boy was I wrong about the flavor. It's actually hits you with a two phase punch. It's sweet off the bad then had a jalapeño smokiness right at the end. It's so good you want more instantly and almost makes your mouth water for more. I can't wait to try it on a steak.

Surprised you haven't tried this before. Been a couple years but I liked it. Meat Church makes quality stuff. Just finished off their Texas Sugar a bit ago.

I don’t think I have. My problem is I had such a backlog of spices that it took me years to finally get through them.
