What's new

Video Cards and other PC components pricing right now

Much like oil, eventually high memory prices is a cure for high memory prices. Supply catches up.

Yep it's bad, real bad. I know playing games is not a life necessity but with everything going on it's something that so many could do to escape from the reality of life. Sure there were those less fortunate and could not afford but now the bar has been raised to where only the well off wealthy will be able to game in anyway. It's just not good.

I can’t help thinking how good we had it only a year ago. Memory was dirt cheap, hard drives and ssds were dirt cheap, no tariffs on electronics, we had it all. As someone who likes to tinker, these new prices are unaffordable anymore.

So my wife asked me to pick out a new laptop for her work that the company wants to purchase. The requirement was it come from Best Buy and be under $500. Now if you would had asked me to do this the end of last year or even back in January no problem. I could had got 16gig and a 1tb ssd for probably around $500. Now with the hardware shortage the max they carry is 8gig and most storage space is a 128gig ssd. Here is the funniest part. The laptop they want her to replace has better specs than buying a brand new laptop. She didn’t understand because of the hardware shortage with Ai that we are actually going backwards to 4-5 year old specs.
