Considering this as an actual drone I can fly outdoors and try to keep control of:  https://www.airbladeuav.com/collections/one-and-only-rotorx/products/rotorx-rx122-atom-v2-diy-kit
That's way to spendy for something that small I would rather get some small little ones for around $50 to play with instead of that price. I am looking more towards a larger one for outdoors myself. I would like to get something with a FPV camera too. Maybe a pair of googles for them too, just not the Fat Sharks those are to spendy. I was looking at the Quanum Cyclops. Cheap and easy with auto scan. Plus I can wear my glasses.

Small doesn't mean without power though.  You can get all kinds of sizes and I guess it depends if you want speed/agility or big/bulky, and also if you want premade junk or something you can DIY and tinker with.  This includes flight controllers, ESC's etc all of which you can connect to an tune.

The goggles are another area where there are a lot of options and it depends what kind of FPV cameras you plan to use or if you plan to upgrade at some point.  The Fat Shark's are definitely spendy but have a wide range of modules and upgrades to be pretty future proof.  They also have lenses you can add in to them for those with glasses.  I mostly like that they aren't humongous.  A cheaper goggle option that seems somewhat popular with newer FPV flyers is the FXT Marvel Vision 2-in-1 32CH 5.8ghz FPV.

So do all FPV headsets work with almost any FPV camera? It seems like they just lock in on a channel. Is this correct?

Most headsets will work with most cameras, but you would definitely want to make sure the headset you look at supports a number of frequencies and channels, or has modules.  You can get cameras that are on 1.2, 2.4 or 5.8 Ghz and possibly on different technologies altogether.  2.4 isn't popular for the FPV stuff, because most RC controllers are also on the 2.4 band.  Additionally, within these there are sets of channels that the camera's and/or goggles are capable of tuning.

Ok here is another question. So I sometimes see guys strap a separate mini camera to the top to record (for quality purposes I assume) and then run their FPV camera to control. Do they make FPV cameras that both display and record at the same time?

I'm not 100% sure that any FPV cameras directly record.  For most race style drones they wouldn't want any additional weight, so if guys do want to capture HD flight footage they have an additional case to strap on something like a Go Pro.The simplest way to record the actual FPV footage is to simply have a headset with a built in DVR to record the footage it receives.  Plus then you have control on your at any time to start/stop the recordings

Ordered a few FrSky receivers (XSR and a Furious Mini) for potential builds.  Also some 3S batteries, a couple 450mAh and a few 800mAh with XT30 connectors.

And lastly, for the first build decided and pulled the trigger on an Atom V2 kit.  Spendier build, but top quality pieces, pretty much everything needed in one package so I don't have to order a piece here a piece there and hope they all come together.

An Owl Pico or Owl Mini is a bit tempting too.  Sturdy carbon fiber frame, true flight controller and such, small enough for indoor flight when it gets bitter cold and still brushless motors.

Well got my little Hubsan today. Looks nice, batteries are charging but it's to late tonight to fly. Will report back tomorrow on what I think.

So just flew my first flight in the house. Probably a good thing I did. This little thing has a lot of power. I've basically shredded the props already with the walls lol. Good thing it came with extras. Kinda scared to take it outside now. I can see it now... Turn it on hit the controller and off she goes, never to be seen again.

Took my drone outside. Surprisingly the photos are video aren't all to bad. Flies way better outside.  You have a lot more room. A park would be great so in case it got away from you that you wouldn't loose it. I almost lost mine due to some strong winds. Since it's such a small drone and the props are pretty tiny it struggles in the wind. I can see where a larger drone with more power and bigger props and stronger props would work way better. After flying it about 5 times yesterday I finally got onto it and had a lot of fun. You just kinda have to let your mind become one with the controller and don't think about it. I wish the batteries lasted longer. Maybe 5-6 minutes fly time each. But it's still fun. Will be upgrading soon.

So my problem with looking to by a Drone is not very many good sites carry them. Amazon kinda has one that I want. But the other places everything kinda seems like it comes straight from China and there are a few U.S. dealers but they charge you more to ship out of their warehouses here.

You just like the Rodeo better, or you don't want to have to wait on an order from elsewhere to get the Black Widow?

I don't know I like the size of the black widow, but like the looks of the rodeo. Both have decent reviews.
