PlayStation Gaming Discussion – PS5, PS4, Games & Sony PlayStation News

I think @@jmanz is right in his theory. Alot of people had money burning a hole in their pocket so they went with whatever they could get their hands on.
I do not doubt it, and I believe the article I read hinted at it, but if Sony overlooked the importance of having stock for the biggest shopping day of the year that's not a good sign. They had to be ready to launch in other markets at the same time since they upped the North America launch. Doesn't help them gain traction in the market they were behind in though. Billy, bobby, and sue just got their's for Christmas (cuz it's what ma and pa could find). Now Timmy, Tommy and the rest of the neighborhood kids will want what their friends got.

Xbox 360: 647K (-48.7%)

Wii U: 220K

These two stats are pretty hard to make anything of really. The Xbox One is selling faster (more per day), but yet the PS4 sold more in the month. How is that? Oh yeah, the PS4 was out for more weeks in the month of November. So they both just twisted the facts slightly in there advantage. If I read between the lines, I would read that as if the Xbox One had been out at the same time as the PS4, then the Xbox One would've sold more units.Stats for December would interest me more, since both would have 31 days in December to sell. Even then, stats will skew, because all those that really wanted a system and pre-ordered or have been scouring stores would have purchased prior, and at this point people may just buy whichever is on shelves, so it could come down to who's production lines are faster.

Seems both are selling well and only time will tell which is the winner of the war I guess.

I just feel bad for the Wii-U :(
Well, the Wii was behind the PS3 and Xbox 360, it doesn't help Nintendo that their "next gen" system was catching up to the current gen systems that had been out 8 years....

So @@jmanz what do you think of it so far? Thoughts/impressions?
I've spent a few hours with it over the weekend. Love the controller, system is really quiet. Sony has cleaned up the UI quite a bit. I only have one game, NBA2K14 and it is really nice graphically. I had read that if you wanted to show off your system to friends, this is the game to show them. I haven't setup PSN yet so I can't comment on that. I checked out Netflix on it and it is indeed awesome, just like the reviews say. I'll post more as I spend more time with it.

How is Netflix any better than on any other system? Didn't they just release their update so all TV connected systems (smart TV apps or console apps) look and behave the same, so one code change affects them all?

You might be right, it just seems much faster to load now. However I can't remember if my PS3 died before I did the Netflix update or not.

I know I'm right. The one exception to their TV connected clients being the same is supposed to be the Xbox One. The 360 got their update and lost the Kinect control, but they said the Xbox One version was to integrated into the Xbox Ecosystem to break it out, which I'm fine with because I love voice commands for the times I'm in the kitchen watching something and don't want to have to wash up to mess with a remote and then wash up again to go back to working on whatever.

Wal-Mart had some in stock but just couldn't pull the trigger. Partly because not sure what to get (leaning XBox) and also just want to wait until future production runs so any problems can be discovered and hopefully fixed. Besides I have plenty I am catching up on old systems and I can wait for a bigger library is available for each system to jump in then.
