What's new

All things related to the Xbox platforms

Hmm. Interesting. Amazon let the cat out of the bag there it would seem. Given the date, seems likely to me it was something that would've been announced as "available today" at the E3 briefing...

Honestly, I'd highly recommend getting the Xbox One w/ Kinect. I know there aren't a ton of games for it, the few that are out are dancing/fitness for the most part.

BUT the new Kinect is very good at tracking, recognizing you for automated sign in, voice commands are reliable and awesome, etc.

Third post in a few minutes, read them all. The other rumor that popped up last night is that Gold membership is going to be dropped as a requirement for services like Netflix and Hulu (FINALLY!!!!!). I've been saying for years that Gold is a great value, for gamers.

It made sense to require it for Netflix when it first came to the 360 and was an exclusive, doesn't make sense today, so I'm glad to see changes coming under the new Xbox team leadership.

Not saying it wasn't a legit thing, just saying I bet it wasn't supposed to be shown yet since it isn't officially announced. Also saying that while it's a nice option for some, if you can get a decent bundle that has it I would recommend that option as it's a good camera for Skype and the voice commands and sign in options it gives are worth the extra $$ (IMHO)

Ya saw the thing on Netflix and Hulu. This should had been changed along time ago.

If true it will help sell units but like @ndboarder said the kinect is nice and I would get a bundle with it. I feel I got an awesome value when I got mine when they had the limited promotion. Getting the system with the kinect as well as titanfall for $450 was well worth it in my opinion.

The problem is @C Pav is that they sale is off or I would seriously be considering it.
C Pav got a great deal on his. Even without a discount, consider it as a $399 console, a great $60 game and a $150 accessory that provides a HD camera for Skype chat or Twitch broadcasting and voice commands with the benefit of some motion gaming if you choose. Even at $499 it's not a horrendous deal when packaged with a game. You'll get what most suits your gaming habit (wait, don't you already have a PC that plays WoW and spend no time on anything else anyway), but if you get a PS4, it will cost you $399 for the console with no games (does it have a headset included)? Plus I hear the camera is popular and can't be found too easily. I haven't looked, but I've noticed stores do seem to have PS4s on shelves these days, so maybe demand is simmering. Anyway, my point is you'll come out saving < $50 by choosing a PS4 and you won't have the Kinect equivelant.

That may be desired, I know, but as I've said I'm actually pretty impressed with Kinect on the Xbox One, just for the voice command stuff. I always use Xbox On and then use others for snapping/unsnapping or for use in video playback.

Was just going to post that Games with Gold was coming for the One in June, but CPav beat me. Max: TCOB (puzzle) and Halo Spartan Assault (top down shooter, contra style) will be the first games.

The one BIG caveat, is that GwG is changing to be the same as the PSN offering, at least on the One versions, haven't read up if 360 changes too. Currently, if you "purchase" the free games each month they are the same as an actual purchase and they are yours forever, tied to your account. You keep them if you cancel your gold subscription. It is changing to be tied to the subscription, so going forward the games you get will only be yours as long as you are a gold member.

Man been reading some other forums on this. Alot of people are pissed because apparently Microsoft said that it would never be sold separately, and now they are. Guess the new guy in charge came in and made them do it to compete in sales with the ps4.

Yeah, price of early of adoption for those pissed. I don't feel sorry for them, they have a Kinect which in my mind is worth paying to get anyway.

Yeah and the fact that the once required and promised to be in every home so developers could build games based on it or use it now is an option instead of requirement. It has it's good and bad points of it but now am scared that it may die off like the original kinect kind of did. At least in terms of games being made for it.

Yeah, I'm more interested in how it shapes the ecosystem than what people that already have an Xbox think of it. Developers used the original a bit, but included or not, for the near future I see specific games using it, apps using it for voice or as a camera (Skype / Twitch/ YouTube). Some games do have it. Thief for example, I couldn't figure out WTF was going on and thought my controller was freaking out. Turns out if you lean forward/back it triggers the "swoop" in the game and I apparently don't always sit as still as I think when I play games....
