What's new

PlayStation Gaming Discussion – PS5, PS4, Games & Sony PlayStation News

In my opinion, having PS3 games on the store to purchase is not the backwards compatibility I nor many want. I want to put in my disk and play it. even if I have to install it that would be fine but I don't want to have to purchase a new digital copy of the game to play if I have it in physical form.

I wonder if this has something to do with it?

PlayStation Now Launching With 'Hundreds of Titles'

At today's invite-only PlayStation event, Sony talked about its upcoming streaming service called PlayStation Now, and it sounds like a whole lot of games are going to be available when it launches later this year.Todd Liss of Sony told IGN that PlayStation Now will launch with "hundreds of titles." Now is currently in closed beta, and is still slated to launch this summer in North America.
Also at the PlayStation event, Sony was showing off two games running on Now for the very first time. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception was shown being played on PlayStation 4, while Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus was shown being played on PlayStation Vita. The former game was hinted at earlier on the website of Gaikai, the streaming technology company Sony acquired a couple of years ago for $380 million.

Unfortunately, little else is known about PS Now, other than that renting games may cost $4.99-$5.99, and that both first party games -- like the aforementioned Uncharted 3 and Ratchet: Nexus -- and third party games will be available.

A "new digital copy" isn't backward compatibility. I still wonder how much the PS Now thing is going to work. See my post at the end of page 8 I guess, but seems like it would be tough to stream a HD game (PS3 games) anywhere while keeping the game quality and having anything near responsive controls. It is possible, I just wonder how well it will work for the average users with mediocre internet and lots of family online doing different things at the same time.

The Nintendo look is nostalgic, but something about that look and the word Sony on it just seems wrong. The Atari skin looks good on the console, but all that orange on the controller doesn't appeal to me.

Rumor: Sony E3 Conference Details Leaked

We’re just a bit over a month to E3, and today a source that opted to remain anonymous contacted us to share what he alleges to be Sony Computer Entertainment’s plans for their press conference. Our source mentioned that the information comes from contacts within Sony’s worldwide studios and a further contact at the BBH New York marketing firm, which works with Sony for part of its promotion.
The info reported below is awfully detailed, which is one of the reasons why we decided to publish it, but we were also able to confirm part of it with a second source. The double-sourced information is bolded, so while you should take everything with the customary grain of salt, the bolded parts stand on more solid ground than the rest.

The source also mentioned that the following publishers will be on stage: Rockstar (with Grand Theft Auto), Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Konami, Capcom, Warner Bros, Activision, Square Enix, Take Two.

(Update: our source followed up saying that he’s actually not 100% sure if Rockstar will actually be on stage or Sony will just announce the next generation Ground Theft Auto V on their behalf)

There will also big titles announced for the Instant Game Collection, a segment on Project Morpheus, one on the Sony Entertainment Network and a re-introduction of PlayStation Now. Price drops will also be unveiled for the PS3 and PS Vita.

We’ll also see several smaller-scale, downloadable titles. PS Vita Vita will get some attention, but not much – as it’ll be a PS4 show. PS3 will get a montage and few new titles. Finally, the show will close with a teaser of a sequel of The Last of Us.

Again, everything mentioned above should be taken with the skepticism usually reserved to rumors, but much of it is so specific that it’s hard to completely disbelieve it. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait for June to see if everything will check out, but one thing is for sure: Personally I really hope it will, because if this is really what Sony’s presser will look like, we’re in for a real treat.

The Ninja Theory part here is intriguing, I'll be interested in what they are working on.

I'd say once that Uncharted, GoW, and The Order are all out and down in price a bit is about when I'd look at a PS4 (not to say that since I see them on shelves frequently they aren't tempting, but I've got plenty to play already...)

Ya but I know you are dying to play Second Son @ndboarder . I didn't even play the first one but I know you loved it. I have heard nothing but great things about the new one.

I wouldn't say I'm dying to play it. The first one was great, then I played Prototype and Prototype 2 on the 360 which were a lot like it. I can't even remember if I ever finished Infamous 2 on the PS3. I'm sure it is a great game, but there are a lot of great games, so I'm not in any tremendous rush.

Xbox Record That ;)

I guess people want to really capture images / video of gameplay, but I don't get it. Video / twitch I get a bit to really show off something you did or to let others watch or provide a demo of a game. I did hear some trash talkers getting after each other in Titanfall the other night and a few "Xbox Record That" commands that from what I gathered was anytime one got the better of the other....

I think it's neat like when you posted Max Brotherhood. I don't know how much I would use it. But it's still neat to see. I just wanted to post that video to show you how beautiful Second Son is and how much your missing out.

I gots lots of good lookin games sir. Eventually though, eventually. Who knows, maybe I'll break down. Start the betting pool now I guess.

Still, I wouldn't bother trying to mess around with taking pictures of stuff. Video of something yep.

If your in on the betting pool, choose the latest date you can... I know I'll get one, but I also know I'll buy every cross platform game on the Xbox since most of my active gaming friends are there and I'm an achievement whore. The only thing I would play on a PS4 is exclusives. The only current exclusive I would care about at all is inFamous. The only other exclusives I care about appear to be over a year from release...
